What this covers
We respond to notices that comply with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. 512) and to equivalent notices under other laws.
Sending a notice
Use the contact form and choose the topic Copyright notice. The form asks for each required element:
- your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is fine);
- identification of the copyrighted work you say is infringed;
- the material on this site and its URL;
- your contact information;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner.
Counter-notification
If material you contributed was removed and you believe that was a mistake, send a counter-notification through the same form containing: your signature; identification of the material and where it appeared; a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification; your name, address and phone number; and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district where we may be found) and to accept service from the person who sent the notice.
We may restore the material after 10 to 14 business days unless the complainant tells us they have filed a court action.
False claims
Under 17 U.S.C. 512(f), anyone who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, can be liable for damages.
Repeat infringers
The site has no user uploads. If material is ever contributed by others, we will stop accepting contributions from anyone who repeatedly infringes.
Forwarding
We may forward a notice or counter-notification to the party concerned.
